Did you know that even if you vacuum and sweep on a regular basis your home might not be as clean as you think? There are areas, which tend to be tiny nooks and crannies, that are often overlooked when you clean. To help you keep your home as clean as possible, we have gathered a list of some of the areas in our apartments in Northridge, California, that people might forget to clean.

#1 – DOOR KNOBS

Chances are good that you come into contact with door knobs multiple times throughout the day, but you probably don’t clean them on a regular basis. Everything from dirt and dust to germs accumulate on door knobs. Keep your apartment clean – and reduce your chances of getting sick – by cleaning and sanitizing all the door knobs in your apartment.

#2 – DISHWASHERS

Every dishwasher has a tiny little filter at the bottom that catches food. If the filter gets blocked, dishes will not be able to be properly cleaned. Depending on how often you use your dishwasher, this filter should be emptied out every two weeks. For those who don’t use their dishwashers a lot, you may only need to clean the filter every month.

#3 – UNDER AND ALONG THE SIDES OF THE APPLIANCES

Dirt, dust, and even dropped food can accumulate under your refrigerator and along the sides of your stove. Next time you are sweeping the floors, make sure you take a few seconds to clean up around the appliances.

#4 – TOPS OF BOOKS

The tops of books are magnets for dust. If you have a bookshelf in your apartment, every two or three months take each book off the shelf and dust it.

#5 – BASEBOARDS

Even if you sweep your floors daily, you might not be reaching the baseboards of the walls. Over time, huge piles of dust will accumulate. Keep your apartment clean by gently sweeping the baseboards with a broom next time you are cleaning your floors.
