Planning a party is more than just making sure you have space for your guests. You want to provide entertainment to keep your guests occupied when things start to slow down. When you live in an apartment in Northridge, it helps to have a few party games in mind when you start planning for an event.
The Mafia Game
Mafia is a game that's similar to charades in that your players have small hints to find the answers. The game focuses on identifying the players who are part of the mafia from the innocents within the game. The majority of players are innocents, and a small number are the "mafia." As the game progresses, people are eliminated from the game. The innocents win the game when they figure out and eliminate mafia players. The mafia players win when the guesses result in an equal number of innocents to mafia players.
Charades
Charades is a classic party game that builds up teams and works on solving a riddle. One player gives hints without saying a single word and using miming skills. The other players on their team must guess the riddle in a set time frame. If they guess wrong, then the team loses the round. If the team guesses correctly, then they get a point and win the round. The game is a fun way to bring your guests together and get them to cooperate with a common goal.
Who Am I?
Who Am I? is a simple game that requires nothing more than a piece of paper, a pen, and some tape. Each person has a name taped to their back. They then have 20 questions to ask of the people around them in the room before they must guess who the person written on their back actually is. If they guess correctly before they get to 20 questions, then they win the game. If they are not able to guess the name of the person, then they lose the game. You can play as many rounds as you prefer, and it gets your guests actively talking to each other.
Party games are a great way to break the ice during an event. To learn more about getting to know your neighbors when you live in Northridge apartments or to see an available rental, contact us today.

One of the joys of a new apartment is entertaining your friends and family. And what party theme is more beloved or more fun than a Polynesian luau? For a reasonable price, you can turn your patio, balcony or living room into a tropical paradise. Here's how:
How to create a Polynesian-themed oasis for your next party
- Lighting. String lights and paper lampshades around LED lights can give your Polynesian-themed party a warm and festive glow. Use them to highlight different areas of the party, such as the food station, dance floor or bar. You can also find battery-powered tiki torches and lanterns that give you the look of candles without having to worry about anything catching on fire.
- Decor. The adage "less is more" doesn't really apply to a Polynesian-themed party. This type of decor can be as "over the top" as you'd like, with silk-flower leis for hosts and guests, grass table skirts for serving tables, little umbrellas for drinks and/or cardboard or inflatable palm trees for accents.
- Food and drink. Traditional Polynesian food combines the cuisines of Asia, Hawaii and other Pacific Islands. Popular foods include pineapple, fried rice, salmon with teriyaki sauce, mahi mahi (baked or grilled) and potato salad. Desserts include pineapple upside down cake, coconut pie and/or macadamia nut cream pie. For drinks, make Mai Tais and Blue Hawaiians. You can even serve them in hollowed-out coconuts. Line your serving platters with banana leaves and use pineapple and other tropical fruit slices plus edible flowers as garnish.
- Music. Evoke the feel of the islands at your party with traditional Hawaiian and/or Polynesian music. Most streaming music services have Hawaiian music channels. Hook your speakers up to YouTube and check out their myriad of luau music choices.
Entertaining your family and friends in your new apartment is fun. You can add to the festive atmosphere with the right Polynesian lighting, decor, food and music. To learn more about renting quality, affordable Northridge, California, apartments, contact us today at (866) 796-2183.
