Food
Fall in Southern California can sometimes feel like summer that’s just mellowed out a little bit. If you’ve been having a hard time getting into the swing of autumn, it’s time to pre-heat the oven, pick some fruit (even if only from a supermarket bin), and bake a pie that will keep you warm when the crisp wind starts to blow.
HARVEST PIE
If you can’t decide between a pie made of cherries, apples, and cranberries, why not combine the three into this incredible dish. Honey, almonds, and a buttery crust tie the fruit together into an incredible package you won’t be able to resist serving your friends. Serve with cheddar cheese, ice cream, or whipped cream, and you won’t go wrong.
APPLE BUTTER PUMPKIN PIE
Taking two of the most delectable fruits and combining the two together yields a sweet and crunchy midnight treat. The apple butter makes the pie slightly sweeter than a traditional pumpkin, while the streusel on top gives the dish more texture. Showing up to a Thanksgiving party with this concoction will definitely put you in everyone’s good graces.
TOFFEE ALMOND PIE
If you’re not the type of person who craves fruit during any season, then try this twist on a traditional pecan pie. The toffee and almond combination is one that will get your lips smacking and taste buds dancing. This pie manages to be both creamy and crunchy while giving you just the right mix of sticky and sweet.
TRIPLE PEAR PIE WITH WALNUT CRUST
Pear is sometimes overlooked when it comes to pies, but that just gives you even more of a reason to give it a try for this season. Use pear nectar to balance out the tartness of Bosc slices, and walnut to complement the cardamom used in this recipe.
