If you’ve been hesitant to host a holiday gathering at our Northridge, CA apartments thinking you might fall short on space for a grand event, we have some invaluable tips for you here. Here at Candlewood North, our newly remodeled floor plans and numerous onsite community spaces are accessible to meet your entertainment needs.

Make the Most of Every Inch of Space

Our spacious apartments feature open floor plans with a guest-ready layout that can be further maximized with ease. Large kitchens with ample countertop spaces are ideal for setting out a spread buffet style. Place any unneeded gadgets and small appliances typically situated on counters into cabinets during the gathering for additional places to set foods, drinks, decorations, and condiments.

However, you can also adjust your furnishings a bit in your primary hosting areas to create ‘traffic flow’ for your guests. Coffee and end tables placed against walls or in corners can create ‘stations’ for snacks where individuals can gravitate and connect with one another during the party. Put out a few folding chairs or cozy cushions for seating, and don’t forget to point guests to your patio or balcony that boasts gorgeous views of Northridge.

Entertain Guests at One of Our Luxurious Outdoor Spaces

We’ve recently redesigned our beautiful outdoor lounge and BBQ stations with state-of-the-art grills, making it a space that’s perfect for a small get-together with friends or family to celebrate any season. Relax and unwind with your guest at the resort-style pool or in the outdoor spa before chatting around the courtyard fire pit to add to the ambiance. Our community members can also take respite in a number of indoor spaces designed for communal activities.

Make Candlewood North in Northridge, CA Your New Home

Find everything you need to entertain yourself and others in our comfortable and friendly community. Beyond spacious floor plans and ample amenities, we're nearby plenty of restaurants, activities, and attractions within the community. Contact us today at Candlewood North to schedule a tour of our recently updated luxury apartments in Northridge, CA.

Fall is in the air around our Northridge, CA apartments, and many of our residents are starting to plan get-togethers in anticipation of cooler weather and food-friendly occasions. If you'll soon be hosting a soiree of your own, here are a few tips to help you get everything together:

1. Plan Ahead, But Not Too Far Ahead

When it comes to getting people together, there seems to be a sweet spot with regard to the timing of invitations. If you send invites out too far ahead of time, people will forget about your event. If you wait until the last minute, they'll already have plans. Shoot for a month to two weeks before your big event to give people proper notice.

2. Use Food-Serving Hacks

Instead of having a thousand different serving dishes on the table, look for ways to consolidate condiments and other food accessories into minimal storage options. For example, muffin tins make great condiment holders, and six-pack carriers can easily turn into utensil holders. Get creative with the stuff you already have in your home to eliminate excess dishes while still throwing an awesome get-together.

3. Parcel Out Products

It's completely OK to ask everyone to bring something. People who love to cook can contribute to the main dishes, while others might stop at the store for apps and desserts. Don't forget that you'll need napkins, utensils, chips, and condiments, too. You can also ask guests to bring alcohol. Make a list of the things you'll need, then ask your attendees to contribute. Keep track of respondents' contributions so you don't wind up with too many muffins but no entree items.

4. Put Your Food Where People Will Mingle

Food is a great icebreaker, as long as it's not back in the corner where nobody will see it. Put your food front and center so people are encouraged to interact with each other when they're getting their fill of chips and dips. You could also consider putting snack stations around the room so people are enticed to gravitate from one station to the next as they get to know each other.

Are you looking for a beautiful apartment in Northridge, CA? If so, you've come to the right place. Stop by Candlewood North so we can show you around!

party time
Planning a party is more than just making sure you have space for your guests. You want to provide entertainment to keep your guests occupied when things start to slow down. When you live in an apartment in Northridge, it helps to have a few party games in mind when you start planning for an event.

The Mafia Game

Mafia is a game that's similar to charades in that your players have small hints to find the answers. The game focuses on identifying the players who are part of the mafia from the innocents within the game. The majority of players are innocents, and a small number are the "mafia." As the game progresses, people are eliminated from the game. The innocents win the game when they figure out and eliminate mafia players. The mafia players win when the guesses result in an equal number of innocents to mafia players.

Charades

Charades is a classic party game that builds up teams and works on solving a riddle. One player gives hints without saying a single word and using miming skills. The other players on their team must guess the riddle in a set time frame. If they guess wrong, then the team loses the round. If the team guesses correctly, then they get a point and win the round. The game is a fun way to bring your guests together and get them to cooperate with a common goal.

Who Am I?

Who Am I? is a simple game that requires nothing more than a piece of paper, a pen, and some tape. Each person has a name taped to their back. They then have 20 questions to ask of the people around them in the room before they must guess who the person written on their back actually is. If they guess correctly before they get to 20 questions, then they win the game. If they are not able to guess the name of the person, then they lose the game. You can play as many rounds as you prefer, and it gets your guests actively talking to each other.

Party games are a great way to break the ice during an event. To learn more about getting to know your neighbors when you live in Northridge apartments or to see an available rental, contact us today.

One of the joys of a new apartment is entertaining your friends and family. And what party theme is more beloved or more fun than a Polynesian luau? For a reasonable price, you can turn your patio, balcony or living room into a tropical paradise. Here's how:

How to create a Polynesian-themed oasis for your next party

  • Lighting. String lights and paper lampshades around LED lights can give your Polynesian-themed party a warm and festive glow. Use them to highlight different areas of the party, such as the food station, dance floor or bar. You can also find battery-powered tiki torches and lanterns that give you the look of candles without having to worry about anything catching on fire.
  • Decor. The adage "less is more" doesn't really apply to a Polynesian-themed party. This type of decor can be as "over the top" as you'd like, with silk-flower leis for hosts and guests, grass table skirts for serving tables, little umbrellas for drinks and/or cardboard or inflatable palm trees for accents.
  • Food and drink. Traditional Polynesian food combines the cuisines of Asia, Hawaii and other Pacific Islands. Popular foods include pineapple, fried rice, salmon with teriyaki sauce, mahi mahi (baked or grilled) and potato salad. Desserts include pineapple upside down cake, coconut pie and/or macadamia nut cream pie. For drinks, make Mai Tais and Blue Hawaiians. You can even serve them in hollowed-out coconuts. Line your serving platters with banana leaves and use pineapple and other tropical fruit slices plus edible flowers as garnish.
  • Music. Evoke the feel of the islands at your party with traditional Hawaiian and/or Polynesian music. Most streaming music services have Hawaiian music channels. Hook your speakers up to YouTube and check out their myriad of luau music choices.

Entertaining your family and friends in your new apartment is fun. You can add to the festive atmosphere with the right Polynesian lighting, decor, food and music. To learn more about renting quality, affordable Northridge, California, apartments, contact us today at (866) 796-2183.

Table SettingMoving into a new home is always a cause for celebration, and throwing an apartment-warming party offers an excellent way to show off your new place while enjoying the company of friends and family. Some people, however, find themselves a little intimidated by the thought of hosting a party, particularly if they've never done it before. Here's a blueprint for fledgling party hosts to ensure that the evening is enjoyed by all.

Send Out Detailed Invitations

Sending out detailed invitations is essential so that party guests know what to expect. They need to know, for instance, if you're planning on hosting a sit-down dinner instead of cocktails and appetizers—knowing this helps your guests plan their evening. A detailed invitation also lets guests know the party's designated start time and when it will be drawing to an end. Whether you choose to invite people via a designated social media page or by sending out old-school snail mail invitations, make sure to give your guests two weeks' notice so that they can make their plans.

Invite the Neighbors

Chances are you barely know your neighbors if you've just moved into a new apartment, so why not break the ice by inviting them to your housewarming celebration? They'll probably appreciate the gesture, and on the off chance that your gathering is a bit too noisy, your neighbors won't be able to complain if they're part of the fun!

Offer Tours of Your Apartment

You probably won't have time to offer each individual guest a tour of your home because your duties as a host will keep you quite busy, but that doesn't mean you can't do a few group tours throughout the course of the evening. After all, the entire purpose of your celebration is to show off your new apartment in Northridge, CA.

Our Northridge apartments feature barbecue grilling areas that are ideal for gatherings of friends and loved ones. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us at your earliest convenience to find out more about the many lifestyle amenities available at Candlewood North, such as spacious closets, central air conditioning, and patios and balconies. We look forward to speaking with you!
