DISCOVER THE BOTANIC GARDENS IN NORTHRIDGE
Established in 1959, the Botanic Garden in Northridge began as a garden dedicated to plants native to California. Spanning one and a half acres between Chaparral Hall and the University Student Union, the garden has grown to feature plants from around the United States and the world. You can still find plenty of native California plants, but you can also see tropical plants, succulents, cacti, herbs, palms, plants that attract butterflies and more.
The Garden is more than just a collection of plants, though. It serves as an educational resource for students and the community, while also being used for research, academia and art. Students and researchers utilize the garden to learn more about plant morphology, plant biology, plant entomology and more, while artists take advantage of the thousands of unique plants for projects related to film, design and photography.
One of the most exciting things about the CSUN Botanic Garden is how accessible it is to the average person. You can choose just how you want to use the garden. You can plan a visit just to see the full beauty of springtime, catching the flowers in bloom in thousands of varieties. Or, you can take a class on gardening. It really is up to you. The Garden is there to educate, enjoy and improve the lives of everyone in Northridge.
