Around Town
For those who don’t live anywhere near Los Angeles, they may wonder why anyone feels the need to get away. OCEANSIDE
Oceanside is around two to three hours away, and it’s a lovely place to go when you can’t be in a big city any longer. While Oceanside is no longer the extremely sleepy town-by-the-sea it once was, it’s definitely not going to be as busy as San Diego or San Francisco. Plus, there’s plenty to see, do, and eat.
SAN LUIS OBISPO
This little college town may seem boring, but you really just have to scratch a bit beneath the surface. In around 3.5 hours, you can be exploring its many shops, restaurants, and cafes. The people who live up there are extremely friendly, and they’re more than happy to give you advice about the nuances of what to do when you’re there. Stop by nearby Morro Bay for an incredible view of the water (and sunset).
LAGUNA BEACH
In Orange County, you’ll find Laguna Beach just waiting to transport you into the world of opulence — at least at first glance, anyway. While much of this city seems geared towards exquisiteness, there are affordable places to go to if you know where to look. Known for its galleries, eclectic food choices, and stunning coastline, this little town has it all.
OXNARD
Oxnard is definitely the closest attraction on this list at about an hour or so away, but it’s often overlooked because it doesn’t have a lot of the traditional amenities that nearby Santa Barbara has. But when the summer sun and tourists start rolling in, this seaside neighborhood will definitely help you decompress when you’re feeling stressed and need to get away.
