With Mother’s Day coming up on May 14, you’re slowly running out of time to come up with the perfect gift if you haven’t gotten one already. Fortunately, these DIY projects are easy enough to do in a day so you still have a chance to put your own personal touch on a gift. If you feel like being crafty, try one of these four suggestions.

MAKE A DIFFERENT BOUQUET
Flowers are beautiful, and they smell amazing. However, they inevitably wilt and die, and it can even be painful for mom to throw them out. Instead, try planting a mini garden full of succulents that will last much longer (without a lot of maintenance). A layer of gravel, a layer of soil, and an artfully arranged bouquet at the top will complete the project.

HOMEMADE COOKIE BUTTER
If your mom has a favorite type of cookie, you can do more than just drop off a package or a basket of them. Get a little more creative by making your own cookie butter. Whether it’s peanut butter, cream-filled, or chocolate chip, make cookie butter that will be truly delicious!

MAKE ACCESSORIES BRIGHTER
Everyday items like wooden hair brushes, kitchen utensils, or even tools don’t have to look so everyday when you brighten them up. Use the right shellac, some tape, and your mom’s favorite colors to give them a cheerful appearance. Purchase a few on your own, or try to get your mom’s utensils when she’s not looking.

CREATE A FLIP BOOK
A flip book that lists the reasons why you love your mom is an easy thing for her to pick up if she happens to be feeling down. The key is to really think about what you want to say to your mom and to use cardstock that matters to her. For example, you can have a map of her favorite place on the back of the card.

Celebrating mother’s day in our Northridge apartments will be even more special if you make your own gifts. If you’re looking for a new apartment this spring, consider a move to Candlewood North for a new living experience. Give us a call today to schedule a tour!
