Ribs on GrillMemorial Day may be a day of remembrance, but it’s also the start of summer, and therefore, ideal for backyard barbecues. Looking for something new and interesting to impress your guests? Give one of these fun recipes a try at our community’s BBQ grilling area:

CHICKEN BREASTS
Simple and traditional, this is a great option for beginning BBQ fanatics. Pour your favorite barbecue sauce in a dish and coat both sides of each skinless chicken breast. Grill for five minutes on each side and brush on extra sauce if needed.

GRILLED TOFU
Use extra firm tofu for this vegetarian recipe. Marinate in barbecue sauce for 45 minutes prior to grilling. Use bamboo skewers while grilling, preferably six minutes per side.

GRILLED SHRIMP
If you’re a seafood nut, you’ll love this grilled shrimp recipe. Use a pound of uncooked medium-size shrimp, ideally peeled and with the tails still on. Brush with barbecue sauce and thread seven or eight shrimps onto each skewer. You’ll only need to grill for two or three minutes per side, so this is a nice option if you’re short on time.

RIBS
There’s nothing like delicious, messy ribs to get your summer started off on the right foot. These ribs add a bit of spice to your typical barbecue sauce. Combine a tablespoon of paprika and a tablespoon of chili powder with a cup of barbecue sauce, and place the mix in a jar. Brush the mix on pre-cooked ribs. Heat the grill to 250 degrees. Place the ribs on the grill, cover, and cook for twenty minutes. Brush with more sauce, flip, and cook for another ten minutes. Repeat the process until the ribs have been on the grill for an hour.

BACON CHICKEN IN THE SLOW COOKER
Can’t make it to the grill? Use your crock pot instead. Cook chicken breasts on high for three hours, drain the juice, and pour on chopped cooked bacon and your preferred barbecue sauce. Cook for another hour on low.
